5 Home Renovation Trends in 2017

    “Home Sweet Home.”

The age-old adage suggests loving your home comes naturally, but like any working relationship, sometimes your home simply needs a little TLC. As (likely) your largest financial investment and the place you spend most of your time, what better way to express your gratitude (and beef up your investment!) than to spruce up your abode?

Here are a few simple, design-driven trends sure to perk up your palace and impress friends and potential buyers alike:

    1. Enticing Entryways
Your entryway is the first thing guests see—so why not make a statement? Use this space to express your individual tastes and the “theme” of your home. Bold door selections (don’t be afraid of color!), funky geometric tile patterns, and lots of light are amongst the top trends for 2017.

    2. Fun Patterns
Say hello to pattern! Whether funky, geometric, or tropical-inspired, pattern is your friend in 2017. Find spaces to accent complementary patterns through floor tiling, kitchen backsplashes, and fun pillows and wallpapers. Herringbone here we come!

    3. Smart Use of Space
Buyers (and guests) are naturally more interested in homes that are more spacious—or homes that look more spacious. The key here is taking advantage of the space you have and using it in efficient ways. Effortless flow adjoining rooms, clever built-ins and a bit of character go a long way!

    4. “Bonus” Rooms
Any extra usable space is usually a plus for buyers (and friends)—especially if it’s bathed in natural light! Mud rooms, sun rooms, game rooms and media rooms are amongst the most notable of “bonus rooms.” Just make sure to define each space and show them the same TLC as the more usable spaces in your home, like kitchens and master bedrooms.

    5. Dark Wood Accents
Wood accents have always had their place in home design, but sometimes they’re best stated in an understated way. Use dark wood to contrast to lighter tile or granite, but make sure to use its boldness as a statement piece! Crafting a unique door or table from reclaimed wood is sure to strike up a conversation.

    Happy Renovating!
